Skills Clinic & Pickup Games

Registration is open and the 2017 season is drawing near! Whether you’re new to flag football – or sports in general – or you’re a returning player, we welcome you to come out to a free skills clinic and pickup game on the 8th and 22nd of April, from 2-4pm at Felstead Park, which is conveniently located just a short walk from Greenwood Subway Station.

No experience is necessary and all women-identified, non-binary, trans and queer friendly folk are welcome!

The facebook event for the 8th can be found here and the event for the 22nd can be found here .

WHAT TO EXPECT

The skills clinic starts at 2pm. We will start by going through an icebreaker, some key-terms, concepts, objectives and basic rules of flag football. The focus for the first skills clinic will be offence, and the second will be defence. We will run through a warm-up and some drills prior to our pickup game, which will start at 3pm. If you don’t feel like you need to attend the skills clinics, feel free to just show up for the game at 3pm!!

The pickup game is purely for recreational purposes – expect to have fun! Those that have never played before are encouraged to attend the skills clinic.

WHAT TO BRING

Come dressed ready to play. Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing, and running shoes (or cleats if you have them.) If you have a football, please bring it with you, so we can ensure we have enough to go around.

WASHROOMS, ACCESSIBILITY AND PARKING

The park will likely NOT have their washrooms open for the season, but there is a gas station with a Tim Hortons nearby on Greenwood. Apologies that this is not an adapted sport and because it is being held in a grassy park, it may be difficult to navigate with mobility devices. There is street parking located around the park.
