2018 Combine #3

We welcome new players of any skill level, whether you’ve played tackle, touch, or flag football before –  or have no experience whatsoever! The majority of our players in past seasons had never played football, so brand new players to the sport should feel right at home.

To ensure that our teams are created fairly, new players must sign-up for and attend one of our combine sessions, where running, catching, and defensive skills will be assessed. This is only required for assessment purposes, so we can do our best to ensure an equal balance of skill level throughout all the teams.

Our first combine date is the 28th of April, from 2-4pm, at Felstead park. If you would like to attend this combine, please sign up here.

Defense Skills Clinic & Pick-up Game

Spring is coming – and so is our 5th season of Flags of Glory Football. Whether you’re new to flag football – or sports in general – or you’re a returning player, we welcome you to come out for a free skills clinic and pickup game, from 2-4pm at Felstead Park, which is conveniently located just a short walk from Greenwood Subway Station.

No experience is necessary and all women-identified, non-binary, trans and queer friendly folk are welcome 🙂

To RSVP, please check out the event on facebook.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The skills clinic will kick off at 2pm. We will start by going through some introductions and an icebreaker, and then run through some key-terms, concepts, objectives and basic rules of flag football. The focus this time around will be defense and will include such things as blocking, rushing, hiking, stance and various other tips and techniques

The pick-up game is purely for recreational purposes – expect to have fun! Those that have never played before are encouraged to attend the skills clinic.

WHAT TO BRING
Come dressed ready to play. Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing, and running shoes (or cleats if you have them.) If you have a football, please bring it with you, so we can ensure we have enough to go around.

WASHROOMS, ACCESSIBILITY AND PARKING
The park may not have their washrooms open for the season, but there is a gas station with a Tim Hortons nearby on Greenwood. Apologies that this is not an adapted sport and because it is being held in a grassy park, it may be difficult to navigate with mobility devices. There is street parking located around the park.

If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to message us on Facebook, or email us at info@flagsofglory.com
