I DON\u2019T KNOW HOW TO PLAY FLAG FOOTBALL, CAN I STILL JOIN?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yes. Don\u2019t worry, we\u2019ll teach you how to play. Most of our rookies have never played organized football of any kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I DON\u2019T THINK I\u2019M ATHLETIC ENOUGH TO PLAY FOOTBALL.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We have players of all athletic types, ages and sizes. The great thing about football is there are many positions, and we will find one for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AM I GOING TO GET TACKLED?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tackling is illegal. In flag football you remove a player\u2019s flag to end a play. There will be some incidental physical contact during the games from all the fun you are having, but nothing like what you see in the NFL and CFL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHAT IS THE COST?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The suggested registration fee for the season is $115. Registration fee for a sub is $30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, we want folks to come out and play, and believe team sports should be accessible to all, so we offer registration cost on a sliding scale. Sliding scale amounts can be selected during the registration process, without having to reach out to the exec committee to access subsidy. Have any questions? WHAT\u2019S INCLUDED IN THE SEASON?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

10 regular season games, player draft\/skills clinic, league socials, and<\/g> new friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I DON\u2019T THINK I CAN AFFORD THE REGISTRATION COST.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We want to make sure that everyone who wants to play is able to play, and we would like to help you in whatever way we can. We offer registration on a sliding scale. This allows folks to decide what they can pay based on their income and resources available, without having to reach out to the executive committee to access subsidy. I DON\u2019T HAVE A CREDIT CARD OR AM UNABLE TO MAKE ONLINE PAYMENTS.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Not a problem. As mentioned above, we want to reduce barriers. Please email us at info@flagsofglory.com<\/a> to arrange an alternative method of payment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHEN DO YOU PLAY?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We play on Saturday afternoons either 12:00pm or 1:30pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our season starts in May and runs through September. We don’t play long weekends or Pride weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each team will have a week off every few weeks since we have an odd number of teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHERE DO YOU PLAY?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We play at Sorauren Ave Park<\/a>, which is conveniently located close to Dundas St West and Lansdowne Ave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A pair of football cleats, pocket-less shorts\/pants, and a positive attitude. Some players use football gloves and you may want to get yourself a mouthguard. We\u2019ll provide all the other equipment (footballs, flags, etc.). Full time players will receive a Flags of Glory team shirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I DON\u2019T WANT TO GIVE UP ALL MY SUMMER WEEKENDS.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We do not play on long weekends or Pride weekend so you can still take a trip to the cottage or go camping and not miss a game. If you want to take another weekend off–just let your team coordinator know and they will find a replacement for that week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, each team will have a week off every few weeks since we have an odd number of teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also sign up as a substitute player – you won’t have a designated team, but will be invited to play when teams need an extra set of hands. The invitation is pressure free – if you had plans to go camping, just say so!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE POLICY?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Because our season is only 10 games long, attendance matters. To help avoid game defaults, support team accountability, and honour the number of players on the waitlist, we ask that anyone who already knows they will miss three consecutive games register as a substitute player rather than a full-time player. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This policy is not meant to be punitive, and no one is expected to play through injury, illness, chronic illness flare-ups, or changing circumstances. If a full-time player misses three (3) consecutive games, with or without notice, they will forfeit their place in the league, and their spot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I DON\u2019T HAVE ENOUGH FRIENDS TO MAKE A TEAM, CAN I STILL JOIN.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Perfect, you\u2019ll make tons of new friends in Flags of Glory. All players are added to the player pool at the start of the season and new teams are put together by the executive committee to ensure balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I WANT TO BE ON THE SAME TEAM AS MY PARTNER, SIBLING, OR BEST FRIEND.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Let us know in the registration form! You can request to be placed on a team with one other person. Most requests are accommodated as long as it doesn\u2019t interfere with the balance of the teams. Just note that we cannot accommodate pair bonding with more than one individual. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
